WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY

If you’ve never made a coffee on an espresso machine before, then this class is for you. It’s a great place to start for those with a new machine at home, for anyone about to start on their professional barista journey, or if you’re just curious.  

This class will cover the basics. We’ll start with an overview of the world of coffee growing, understanding origin, processing techniques and how this impacts taste.

Then the practical stuff begins. You'll learn:

  • What ‘dialling in’ means, and how to dial in a grinder in order to produce a good quality espresso
  • How to steam milk consistently for the perfect flavour and texture in your coffee
  • The basics of latte art

Duration

This class is 3 hours long, with plenty of coffee on tap to keep you energised, and lots of great tips and tricks to keep you entertained.

Class Size

There will be a maximum of 8 people in this class, to ensure everyone gets focused attention from their barista trainer.

    Alex 'Slater'
    Senior Head Barista & AST Trainer

    Alex joined 200 Degrees as a barista in 2017, making his way up to Head Barista at our Nottingham Carrington Street shop. Training and development have always been at the forefront of Alex’s coffee passions, and he took the step up into our barista school operations. He now focuses mainly on training, both for our shop teams, and as an accredited trainer for our professional SCA courses.

    Reece joined 200 in 2022, making her way up to General Manager of our Manchester store. Coffee has always been a passion of Reece’s since working as a speciality barista in Australia for 2 years. In early 2024, became our Northwest Senior Head Barista, where she now focuses on coffee training in her cluster, ensuring brand consistency and delivering barista schools to remember!

    Senior Head Barista

    Lewis started at 200 in September 2021 with very limited knowledge about coffee, but quickly worked his way up to the role of Head Barista in our Lincoln store. He spent a lot of his own time researching everything coffee related, building his knowledge to true expert level! He has now stepped into a Senior Head Barista role, sharing his passion and experience by teaching barista classes in both Birmingham and Lincoln.

    Senior Head Barista

    Though his journey at 200 started in 2021 as Assistant Manager, Sean's coffee career started 14 years earlier. For years coffee was his hobby which he soon turned into a passion. During his time at 200 he worked his way up to GM of our York Designer Outlet shop in 2022, and finally settling into his current role in the coffee team. Here his passion continues to grow, and he plays an integral part in training and developing our baristas.
