Brazil has been the world’s largest producer and exporter of coffee beans for over 150 years. The Fazenda Pantano farm is located in the Cerrado Mineiro, a region recognised for consistently producing high quality coffees. The farm is owned by the Ferrero family and covers over 550 hectares at an altitude of 1,150 m and 1050 m. Fazenda Pantano funds various training schemes and courses for employees, as well as supporting a nearby school. It is certified by the Rainforest Alliance.
Peru: San Martin de Pangoa, Satipo & Junin
Peru is now the 8th largest coffee producer in the world. It’s recognised for Arabica coffee that is shade-grown and traditionally cultivated, often processed in artisanal wet-mill facilities. Volcafe has been working with smallholders, cooperatives and estates in Peru since 2014 and San Martin de Pangoa represents one cooperative of around 700 farmers in this region. Located east of the Andes, Pangoa coffee is grown at an elevation of 820 to 1,650m.
Uganda: Cooperative Robusta
Coffee exports are an important part of Uganda’s economy being 27% of their total exports, around 3 million bags of coffee per year. Robusta coffee makes up 90% of the country’s total production and is farmed in a radius of 300 km around Lake Victoria at an altitude of 1,100 – 1,400. The majority of Ugandan robusta coffee is a natural coffee, using the drying method.

A coffee that makes a difference
About The Coffee
Country: Guatemala
Farm: La Morena
Process: Washed
Tasting: Milk Chocolate, Red Grape, Floral
Roast Profile (1-5): 3
Variety: Bourbon, Catuai and Caturra
Altitude: 1,400-1,600 MASLIn Guatemala, coffee has long been a male-dominated industry and gender equality remains a challenge. Between 20% and 30% of coffee farms are female-operated and up to 70% of labour in coffee production is provided by women, de-pending on the region. However, women have systematically lower access to resources, such as land, credit and information, than men. This often results in a measurable gender gap in economic out-comes, including yields, productivity and farm income.
La Morena is a high quality coffee that showcases the work of women farmers across Guatemala. La Morena is a coffee from Huehuetenango, on of Guatemala’s three non volcanic, highest and driest region, which makes it one of the best to grow coffee. This premium single origin coffee is produced exclusively by female farmers, La Morena is also a Volcafe Way coffee. By providing women artisans with skills and income opportunities, they are able to help transform cycles of poverty to cycles of prosperity.
